There is a new beauty trend going around, and I don’t know whether I love it or I’m completely freaked out by it.

What am I talking about? Yes, you read that correctly.

They are calling it “Octopus lips” or “Devil lips,” and the trend is said to have started in Russia. Are they genius, or are they slightly off their rockers?

It is said to be achieved by using lip fillers to make your lips wavy, or give them that pointed shape.

People like Kylie Jenner have made the lip filler a common cosmetic trend, but this lip is taking lip fillers to a new level.

Some experts are saying that you should avoid this unnatural lip shape. These experts say that it would be very hard to go back to a “normal” lip shape.

You will have stretched out, and distorted the outline of your lips, and there just isn’t any way to easily come back from that.

Other people in the know are saying there is no way that this trend is real. They claim that photoshop is the only way to achieve the desired scalloped shape.

I do NOT volunteer as tribute to find out which one is true. Although I think these kinda look cool, there is no way I’m doing this to my perfect pout.

You might remember the wavy eyebrow trend of 2017. That wasn’t as permanent, and faded into the sunset pretty quickly.

What do you think of this new trend?

‘Wavy Lips’ Are The New Beauty Trend And I’m A Bit Freaked Out

“This trend is WRONG on all levels,” writes Dermaspa founder Nilam Holmes on Instagram, adding that she thought it was a “joke for Halloween” when she first spotted the look.

“Please don’t be naive and follow silly trends like this,” she continues. “You will not be able to reverse it easily and go back to your natural lips if at all. Your lip border will be distorted and it won’t wear off evenly so you will have frilly lips for years to come.”

Wavy lips

While Holmes seems to think the pointy pucker might actually be a real procedure, Dazed Digital asked cosmetic dental surgeon and facial aesthetician Dr. Krystyna Wilczynski to speculate on whether “devil lips” are really a thing — and she’s calling shenanigans: “You cannot change the anatomical shape of the lips like this.”

“You can sharpen and contour by enhancing the vermilion border, but these ‘devil lips’ are unnatural,” she explains. “Filler injected inappropriately could end up in a blood vessel, causing blockages and leading to necrosis (death) of the tissue. The vessels are around the lips, so using filler inappropriately is what can cause this.”

However, earlier this year, filler fanatics tired of the trend told The Post they’re scrambling to remove all their injectables.

“There has been a shift in aesthetic style,’’ said Manhattan dermatologist Anetta Reszko. “People no longer want to look different; they want to look like a more rested, fresher version of themselves.”
